FIELDEN FACES | NICO THOMPSON

Looking closer

Some of the best stories begin with a change of scene.

The latest chapter of Fielden Faces takes us into the world of Nico Thompson, bespoke eyewear maker and designer.

For Nico, inspiration is found in light, landscape and the finer details. Every frame he creates is the result of careful observation, precision and thoughtful design.

We spent the day with Nico to explore his creative process, the countryside that inspires him and why the smallest details can shape the way we experience the world.

Through a different lens

For Nico, seeing is more than observation.

It's a way of understanding the world.

As he explains:

"I've spent my life looking through lenses. Each offers a fresh perspective. Out here, driving amongst the fields, everything becomes clearer. Bathed in light, nature comes into vivid clarity."

Those quieter moments away from the pace of everyday life allow ideas to take shape.

Every detail matters

Nico's approach to design is meticulous.

Every frame is considered from every angle before it reaches the wearer.

As he puts it:

"That sharp focus on the finer details is the key to my creative process. Flowing lines form our bold silhouettes. Tones that contrast and complement. Every curve, every colour, carefully considered."

The result isn't simply eyewear.

It's something designed to shape the way people feel.

"It's not just what you see through the lens. It's how it makes you feel."

It's this thoughtful approach to design, and the way Nico sees the world, that made him a natural fit for Fielden Faces.

The end-of-day ritual

After a day in the workshop, the ritual is simple.

Fielden Rye Negroni

30ml Fielden Rye Whisky

20ml Campari

25ml Sweet Vermouth

Bold, balanced and the perfect way to mark the end of a thoughtfully spent day.
